Chateau Lafite Rothschild

Arguably the poster boy for the Bordeaux Classified First Growths, Chateau Lafite Rothschild was first referenced in 1234 and was designated a First Growth in the 1855 Classification as part of the Universal Paris Exposition which called Lafite the "Leader among fine wines". Baron James de Rothschild purchased Chateau Lafite in 1868, the beginning of the "golden age" of Medoc.

Driven in particular by the Asian market, Lafite is a wine for which there is always exceptional demand and it has (except during the financial crisis of 2009-2011) consistently delivered a return upon investment in the long term. Full details are below.
