Ben Sichel's biodynamic approach is underpinned by serious winemaking knowhow and his deft interventions in the winery have ensured that this Angludet is one with a mineral core, racy acidity and freshness, all in spite of the hot vintage, where a handful of similarly priced neighbouring producers got it wrong.
Intensely clean mineral lines on the nose, with bilberry, blueberry, crushed blackberries and a touch of damson. A touch of violet and some sweet smoke add more floral elements, whilst a touch of rich blood orange appears upon aeration. This is an Angludet, like last years', that shows the benefit of their biodynamic approach, with endearing freshness and
vitality, as well as ripe, well-integrated tannins and superb acidity on the finish. A dusty old claret this is not: this is elegant Margaux at its best from this estate.
