Located to the south of Margaux next to Châteaux Dauzac & Giscours, Siran has attained the mantle of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel and with good reason. Extensive replanting by the Miailhe family with a mixture of 46% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 13% petit verdot and 1% cabernet franc makes for a 2019 with soft tannins and a mid-palate with black cherry & cassis fruits. The bouquet is “drop dead gorgeous”, says Neal Martin, who continued by writing “This Siran boasts one of the longest finishes that I have ever encountered from this estate. Seriously good.” A star of the vintage at £19 a bottle: wow!
